Video encoding

Back to help section.

Once a movie has been uploaded, it will be automatically converted to a Default Format. In order to select the Default Format, access the “Preferences” tab. Here in the “Formats Available for Streaming” section, you can set the video format in which all new videos will be converted by default when uploaded. You just need to select the format you want to be set as default and press the “Set default” button.

As you can see, there are 4 predefined encoding formats.

Creating a custom encoding format

If the default encoding formats don't fulfill your needs, you can create a custom format at any time by pressing the "Add custom format" button.

In the window that opens, select your desired ratio, audio and video bit rate, add a name for the custom format and press the "Create Format" button.
Your custom encoding format has now been created and movies can now be encoded in this format.

You also can create a custom format with a custom ratio by selecting Ratio: custom.

Manually encoding a video

In addition to the initial automatic encoding, you can encode a video into other formats. This can be done by accessing the video details from "Videos" tab. Move your mouse over the movie you want to encode in other formats and press the “Details” button.

In "details" tab you have the “Formats Available for Streaming” section, where you can find all the formats available for streaming. Formats in which your video has not been encoded have the “create playable format” button available. You can encode your video to a certain format by pressing the “create playable format” that corresponds to that format.

Now that your new playable format is being processed and has the “Conversion in Progress” message displayed, you can navigate to another page without any problem. Once the “Conversion in Progress” message is no longer present, your video is ready to be streamed.
